Deep tissue massage works with slow, deliberate strokes and sustained pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is the one most people ask for after weeks of desk work, travel or training — wherever tension has settled in and stayed.
What to expect
I start with lighter strokes to warm the muscle before working into the problem areas. Pressure builds gradually and always stays within a range you are comfortable with — say so at any point and I adjust straight away.
- Focus areas: neck, shoulders, lower back, hips
- Best for chronic tension, postural strain and recovery after hard training
- A glass of water afterwards helps the body process the release
At your home
I bring the table, clean sheets, towels and oils. All I need is about 2 × 2 metres of free floor in a room with some privacy.
Aftercare
Some mild soreness the next day is normal, much like after a workout. Gentle stretching and staying hydrated both help it pass quickly.
